JasonOg says, "I chose my student colleagues for my audience"
JoeSa says, "are yall gonna open up the web board?"
AndrewGo says, "Okay, what is your topic?"
MaggieCa says, "actually, people of our generation"
NickSm says, "did we all pick college students?"
AndrewGo says, "I think so"
JasonOg says, "i did"
JoeSa says, "I picked students in general"
AndrewGo says, "I did"
NickSm says, "who picked the science/education/technology topic?"
MaggieCa says, "our dependency on and the importance of technology "
JoeSa says, "me"

JasonOg says, "My paper will be about the benefits of technology in education"
AndrewGo says, "Is that number two"
JoeSa says, "I think its either two or three"
MaggieCa says, "i think i'm also going to discuss the next generation and what their life will be like regarding the use of technology"
MaggieCa says, "in a paragraph or so"
AndrewGo says, "That is cool"
MaggieCa says, "you think?"
AndrewGo says, "Though I can't imagine becoming more dependent then we are now"
AndrewGo says, "I mean unless you want to be a normal human being"
JasonOg says, "Thats a good thought Maggie, you will get support from your audience by talking about their future childrem"
MaggieCa says, "that is pretty much what i am going to talk about"
AndrewGo says, "Maggie, do you believe someone could survive without the technology of today"
AndrewGo says, "?"
MaggieCa says, "yes, if it had never been invented"
AndrewGo says, "That is exactly what I was thinking"
MaggieCa says, "great"
AndrewGo says, "Or if you had been raised differently"
JasonOg says, "depends on the circumstances"
AndrewGo says, "Like in a remote village or something"
AndrewGo says, "I don't know"
JoeSa says, "Do y'all think I can convince an audience of students not to use the internet as much as they should use books"
AndrewGo says, "Yeah"
MaggieCa says, "for example, our parents and grandparents did not have calculators and such, and they were just as capable to do math"
JasonOg says, "but it took them a longer time"
AndrewGo says, "But on the flipside, with increased medical advances they now can live longer"
AndrewGo says, "That is with the aid of technology"
MaggieCa says, "that's okay, they still got it done"
JasonOg says, "the downfall though, is that I can't even remember how to do long division"
AndrewGo says, "There is the rub"
JoeSa says, "true"
NickSm says, "people today don't care that those in the past
didn't have technology to use but somehow survived. its going to be
tough to say don't use all this technology more than anything else."
MaggieCa says, "exactly, they had to use their brains more
than we do"
JoeSa agrees
AndrewGo says, "Sort of"
MaggieCa says, "now that we are accustomed to using the
technology that we have you can't take it away"
AndrewGo says, "I just don't want my kids to be dependent on
computers and such"
AndrewGo says, "I don't think I am"
MaggieCa says, "dependent?"
JasonOg says, "I couldn't even work a computer until this class"
NickSm says, "yeah, but computers are becoming more and more
integrated in our lives. we have to learn how to be a little bit
attached to them."
AndrewGo says, "Relying on"
JasonOg says, "I agree with Nick"
AndrewGo says, "Yes, but I want to go see the game, not just
in front of a monitor in the stats and scores"
AndrewGo says, "I'm going to stop typing because I keep
screwing up"
NickSm says, "you still can, but for daily chores and
such(shopping, communications), we can use computers/technology to aid
ourselves."
MaggieCa says, "i understand"
AndrewGo says, "Okay, what is wrong to go to the supermarket"
MaggieCa says, "what do you mean"
AndrewGo says, "You may have to get off your butt once. Big Deal"
JasonOg says, "I like computers, but I don't want them to make
me lazy"
MaggieCa says, "that's okay"
JoeSa says, "my roommate said hey"
AndrewGo says, "And who wants to meet there wife/husband over
the internet"
NickSm says, "its not about laziness, its about time
management or efficiency"
AndrewGo says, "Virtual kiss. Give me a break"
JasonOg says, "Americans have so much free time as it is"
JoeSa laugh
NickSm says, "now thats going to far. i don't think mail
order spouses will be a major concern"
AndrewGo says, "I don't to see the woman I am to marry"
AndrewGo says, "It is not going to far, it happens"
NickSm says, "not as much as you make it sound..."
MaggieCa says, "well it is up to the person using the
technology, it can very easily be taken advantage of"
JoeSa says, "Have any of yall read Fahrenheit 451?"
AndrewGo says, "Well, what about the article in Red and Black"
MaggieCa says, "no"
JoeSa says, "by Bradbury"
JasonOg says, "Junior year"

JoeSa says, "I liked it, too"
AndrewGo says, "I particularly like the amusement park"

JoeSa says, "I think that technology might come so far as to
not need books anymore"
AndrewGo says, "Which is a shame"
JoeSa says, "we may not be burning them..."
AndrewGo says, "Who wants to take a laptop under a tree for a
while"
JoeSa says, "but we'll still rely on the computer"
NickSm says, "why is that a shame, you'll still read the material, it'll just be online"

JasonOg says, "i don't believe that books wil become extinct"

everyday"

net but books did have a lot of time put into them"
JasonOg says, "I find computer literature important for
educational reasons, not recreational"

MaggieCa says, "Incredible book, but I imagined the garden very diferently and so i was disapointed after the movie"
