Mr.Cole says, "This passage would seem to suggest that we can obtain an idea of the great outlines of knowledge, as if "Knowledge" were a single and unified object. Does that sound like your notion of knowledge?"
KurtDa says, "No, but in that case, I don't agree with him"

AndrewGo says, "NO, knowledge can not be classified under one single term"
NickSm says, " I don't think knowledge is anywhere near being concrete. There are too many parts to knowledge"
KurtDa says, "Knowledge comes in parts, and a big part would be realizing that one doesn't know it all, but that adds to his idea"
Mr.Cole says, "How so, Kurt?"
KurtDa says, "Well, He says basically that college helps you gain 'knowledge', but I don't agree with his definition of knowledge."
Mr.Cole says, "Perhaps it's time to bring up the second passage: "It is the education which gives a man a clear conscious view of his own opinions and judgments, a truth in developing them, an eloquence in expressing them, and a force in urging
them." How does this fit in?"
KurtDa says, "Knowledge isn't a 12 step program no, but it's not something you obtain at once, like a final goal."
AndrewGo says, "Knowledge provides support for one's opinions"
NickSm says, "maybe knowledge is the "web browser" of life. I know, way to philosophical."
KurtDa says, "It helps one realize not only how to defend his opinions, but also how to chose them"

NickSm says, "well, a browser is the way we see information that others want to communicate with the world...and knowledge is how we learn to communicate what we want to say..."
KurtDa says, "But I don't think that you have to go to college to get an education or obtain knowledge."

NickSm says, "depends on what level or kind of knowledge that one wants"
KurtDa says, "I think knowledge is obtained through experience, but college tries to focus your experiences in four years."

NickSm says, "yes education has more of a "practical" connotation to it"
AndrewGo says, "Knowledge is motivation, education is mandatory"
Mr.Cole says, "I guess I'm thinking of knowledge as data, facts, etc. No one will ever know ALL of them. Education could be the skills for assessing, organizing, expressing what knowledge one has acquired..."
KurtDa says, "Knoweledge is a combination of education and experience"
NickSm says, "i think experience is a combination of education and experience..."

Mr.Cole says, "So, what does any of this have to do with college? Is college providing us with either education or knowledge? Can it?"

KurtDa says, "It provides education as far as classes, and your experiences as far as out of the classroom."
NickSm says, "look at us now. we are in a classroom learning how to effectively argue our points. we already now how to speak, so we're taking that and using it practically..."
Mr.Cole says, "Julie, you've been quiet so far. What do you think?"
KurtDa says, "Julie?"
Mr.Cole says, "Well, I want to move us out to the big room soon. Do you have a leader?"
