Mr.Cole says, "I'll forgive some screwy formatting this time around and do some experimenting on my own to figure out the best way to paste."

Mr.Cole says, "For the next paper, I will also add an option that will let you upload a file directly from disk without cutting and pasting. I just haven't had a chance to experiment with it yet."

Mr.Cole says, "Your first paper was an exercise in _analysis_ of argument, taking an argument apart and seeing how it works."
Mr.Cole says, "This is an important skill, one which we will continue to use throughout the quarter, but the rest of the papers will also require you _synthesize_ the material you read."
Mr.Cole says, "By sythesis I mean putting together information and arguments from different sources in order to create your own, original argument on a specific topic."
Mr.Cole says, "Our first topic will take up a question raised by Goodman and Neusner, namely what is the purpose of a college education. We will read essays on the liberal arts, multiculturalism, the "canon," and so on."
Mr.Cole says, "Before we dig into specific articles, however, I wanted to have some general discussion on what you all thought about this question. "
Mr.Cole says, "So go to your (new) group rooms and read the assignment for today (it is #3, so type 'read 3 on note'). We'll reassemble out here towards the end of class."
Mr.Cole says, "Oops. That was a little fats. Did you catch it/"

ScottFr say, "the basic courses like science, and english will expand your knowledge, but then you get into your major courses and start learning how to do your future job"

MaggieCa says, "Being away from the parents is nice, but the responsibility is a lot to handle For example we have to budget our own money. I's a good lesson in life because we have to decide now what our future will bring."
